The Ukrainian Cross-Section Triennial

The Ukrainian Cross-Section Triennial is considered to be a "project-problem" launched in 2010. The project was initiated by the Dzyga Art Association in cooperation with the Institute for Contemporary Art and TransKultura Foundation.

The Ukrainian Cross-Section project is a try to specify ukrainisms in contemporary art.

The first Triennial (2010) was an attempt of self-identification. The exhibition was  presented in the Polish city of Lublin, and it has generated  a lot of positive feedbacks from visitors and Polish critics.

The Ukrainian Cross-Section‘2013 was important for us as a process of introspection. The project was exhibited during the Eastern Partnership Culture Congress in Lublin, and it was located in different spaces displaying a variety of Ukrainian visual arts for the Congress participants and guests.

This year Ukrainian Cross-Section Triennial is the result of the "explosion" that took place in Ukraine after the Maidan events. A new outlook on the world, new way of thinking and analysis of changes translates into rethinking, reappraisal, the reverse – that is into re-formation (literally “re-CREATION”)
