MOTANKA DOLLS – MARTA SHVETS

Workshop on making traditional Ukrainian motanka dolls, also known as knot dolls. Those dolls were believed to fulfill any wish. In ancient times they played an amulet role, some fragments are still preserved in the traditions of Ukraine and Belarus. In Poland only Mazhanna doll is still preserved. During the workshop children with their parents or teachers will make their own motanka dolls.

Each of three workshops involves 15 children

Marta Shvets, a known Ukrainian theatre expert, photographer, has a little son. She was born and lives in Lviv. Works in the theater. Motanka dolls are her hobby, in which she is involved for almost 10 years. During this time, Marta has made hundreds of dolls that are in private collections throughout the world.
