The DRUMТYАТR project was launched in January 2010 by Juri Izdryk & Grigory Semenchuk, Ukrainian writers & musicians of completely different age & weight categories, but they are the permanent core of the band. The “core” eagerly attracts for their performances both professional musicians & amateurs, as well as poets, artists, performers. The band is involved in hip hop, krautrock, trip hop, industrial and electronic music using poetry texts by Izdryk, Semenchuk and other Ukrainian poets.
In 2015 the “core” was joined by Sergiy Lebid (drums). For 6 years the band has played over 40 gigs in different cities and participated in major Ukrainian art and music festivals of various trends. Their debut EP was released in 2014.
Juri Izdryk (born in 1962) is a well-known Ukrainian novelist, poet, artist, musician, culture critic. Author of nine prose and four poetry books. His works are translated into Polish, English, Russian, German. Winner of the BBC Book of the Year 2009. Founder and chief in editor of the Chetver/Thursday conceptual art & literature magazine. Co-founder and frontman of the DRUMTYATR project. Lives in Kalush, Ukraine
Grigory Semenchuk (born in 1991), poet, musician, publicist, cultural manager. Managing director Dialogue Art Council (since 2015). Curator the 3rd Eastern Partnership Culture Congress in Lviv (2015). Program director Month of Authors’ Readings in Lviv project. Program director Lviv Publishers’ Forum (2008 – 2015). Co-editor of the Prosto Neba / Straight Under Sky socio-cultural magazine. Author of two poetry books. Co-founder of the DRUMTYATR project.
