DANYLO MOVCHAN is a young Lviv-based artist, known for his modern icons, that are tightly linked with the art tradition inspired by Jerzy Nowosielski, a well-known Polish artist. Avoiding contradictions with the tradition, he tries to be an actual artist involved in contemporary art focused on his contemporaries. Danylo started to paint icons while his study at the famous Ivan Trush Lviv Decorative and Applied Art College (restoration department).Then, at the Lviv National Academy of Arts (sacred art department) he learnt deeper the theological roots of iconography and began to create his own compositions. Danylo Movchan is a participant of numerous solo and group exhibitions in Ukraine and abroad. His works are in churches and private collections in Ukraine, Belarus, Poland, Italy, France, Germany, Canada,the US.
