Ziemowit Szczerek (born in 1978) is a known Polish journalist, writer, translator and historian. He collaborates with the magazines Politics and New Eastern Europe. Researches the particularities of Eastern and Central Europe, and he described them in his gonzo novel Mordor’s Coming To Eat Us Up (2013), and in the Route S7 (Siódemka) novel.
Winner of the 2013 Polityka Passport for the Mordor’s Coming To Eat Us Up, or the Secret History of the Slavs, which combines the structure of a road novel with gonzo-style journalism. The book was also longlisted for the Nike Prize and short listed for the Angelus Prize. Ziemowit Szczerek is the author of numerous interviews, documentaries and short stories published in Tygodnik Powszechny weekly, Nowej Europie Wschodniej / New Eastern Europe, Lampie/Lamp. He is also a columnist for the Ha! Art portal.
